You can do this. You'll need a license for advanced file type devices. Your
favorite EMC reseller, or EMC directly can give you the licensing details
and cost. Quite honestly though, it seems to me you are going about this
backwards. Buying an expensive storage device, such as a NetApp filer,
without a clear vision of how you will use it in your data protection
environment doesn't strike me as the best idea to come down the pike. You
should decide what type of data protection requirements you need, then
purchase the hardware and software licenses to achieve your goal.
