Yes I have used it. It works to some extent, and lets just say its not
perfect. EMC knows it, as I created a case with them. Check out the Admin
Guide to be sure that you are not trying to push the software to the list of
client types (ie: Novell, etc) that they list, as it will bomb. You have to
create and "exemption list" for those clients to be skipped in the scanning
process. I got about 95% accuracy on Windows clients upgrading the for SQL
Module after the clients had at least 7.4 on them. I assume your clients are
already at 7.3 or above as the distribution on works on clients that have at
least that level. I also had to ask where the log files were for the failures
as they dont show up in the daemon.raw file. Here is what they gave me:

Server Side Debugging
Nsrcpd logs significant events to: /nsr/logs/nsrcpd.raw
Start nsrcpd with "-D 9" to get detailed messages in log file

Client Side Debugging
- Temporary Directory
"Unix: /tmp/<cp_server-name> e.g. /tmp/cp_myserver/
"Windows: %TEMP%\<cp_server-name>
# System variable %TEMP% e.g. C:\Windows\temp\cp_myserver\
- Logs
"Unix:
# /tmp/nw_install.<server-name>.log (high-level operational errors from scripts)
# /tmp/install.<server-name>.log (platform specific packaging mechanism errs)
# /tmp/<cp_server-name>/return_status.log (status of removal & add of packages)
"Windows:
# nw_install.log (high-level operational errors from scripts)
# <product name>_nw_install_detail.log (windows installer '.msi' details)
# nw_status.log (status of removal and add of packages)

Hope that helps.

Hi,

So, I've tried using EMC's spanking Software Administration Wizard today
to upgrade all of my clients to v7.4.4 and... drum roll please... it
failed. More precisely it failed after it uninstalled the old software
from the clients, luckily I stopped it after 3 failures so I've
installed the client s/w manually.

Has anybody else experienced this? Do you have a fix for it?

Server setup is v7.4.4 under Win2k3, clients are v7.4.2 under
Win2k/Win2k3.

Best regards,

Vince
