Hello,
My thoughts are to keep it on when ever possible to yield diagnostic info,
unless you run into specific issues that would suggest otherwise.

You need to know when the virtual drives need cleaning with a virtual
cleaning tape. It is a bad thing if the virtual heads in the virtual
tape get clogged up with virtual debris.
No I'm kidding. CDI also gives you better error reporting, although that
may be slightly academic with a virtual drive too. There may not be much
point in using CDI with an EDL, as you say Stan. What does anyone else
think?
