I wouldn't say that the EMC class is bad, so much as it is incomplete. It is
aimed at folks that have had no exposure to the product at all, a la "A storage
node is a computer that has back up devices attached....". For what it does,
it is perfectly adequate, and the instructors I think are very knowledgeable.
But there are gigantic holes in the topics covered, especially if you already
understand the basics. For example, there is no coverage (none, zip, nada)
about NDMP backups. Or backups via ANY of the application modules. Or backing
up Windows clusters. Or anything remotely advanced (clone job scripting). Any
any of the new integration with Avamar...... etc etc etc ad nauseum.
And unfortunately, while there is an "Advanced" Networker class in the catalog
it is a) based on the 7.2.2 version, and b) not scheduled any more.
If you have any contacts left at Ed Services, you might pass that along, they
are definitely leaving education dollars on the table.
