Hi,

doing compressed backups from netapp filers is not possible.
However your tape drive should compress the data automatically.

To check this just compare the nominal (i.e. uncompressed)
capacity with the amount of data written to a tape marked "full" in the
"volumes" tab. For an lto-3 tape (400 gb uncompressed) i backup
between 800 and 1200 gb to one single tape (most of them is
oracle data which can be compressed quite good).
