I effectively use my AFTDs as an HSM - or more accurately, a data warehouse
(about 30 TB of database dumps). We don't do 400+ recovers in a day, but 60+ a
day and 400+ a month would not be pushing it (all of them averaging about 2-6
gig each). Most of them needing to be done ASAP-INS (mostly for various types
of audit).
For us, AFTD is also winning; We had a transitional period on all-LTO (which a
VTL is supposed to emulate anyway). It was annoying at times to get everything
done within a reasonable time, while still allowing a timeframe for our Ops
guys to do restores.

I'd like to add to this list:
- Run a Stage and Clone at the same time (which alone would be nice)
- De-dupe natively on an AFTD. [Pipe Dream, I know. ;) ]
