We backup 3 TB of Exchange daily. All 4 of the servers (4 active in a 6
node cluster) are all dedicated storage nodes, so each has access to
their own tape drive, over a 2 Gb fiber connection. We have LTO-3
drives, and can usually backup all of our data in about a 5 - 7 hour
window.

Backup to disk would give you similar, or possibly faster, backup times.

The key is getting 1 server (or maybe 2) their own dedicated tape drive,
without being limited by either network or backup server congestion.

What are your recommendations on backing up Microsoft Exchange Server?
What methods are the best way. I have been reading about doing some
Snapshot backups but I am not an expert on any of that. I just want to
be able to back up my exchange servers on the same day. Our full backups
generally take about 2 days to finish with about 3 TB of data being
backed up. Anyone else seen this problem? Any help would be most
appreciated. Thanks for your time.
