yes i do understand that...but the thing is that atleast is there any way to 
know whether the data is compressed or uncompressed?

Why iam asking this is because i have to maintain offsite backups to....B4 i 
used to send 11-122 tapes ..rite now it has been increased to 15-16...so in 
order to reduce again the number what would be apprpriate is that to scrap off 
the tape where only 30 % of the tapes where written  and showing the full 
status.
