Oscar, maybe we can help each other out here some as I am pretty familar with
CommVault and very new to Networker and need some basic help on how to install
a linux client on networker. So first question is what version of CommServ are
you using. I am familar with 6.01 and 7.0. Though I have used 6.01 more and I
am a software tester and not a network admin. But I think Ican answer some of
your questions.

Clients are associated with groups. All clients in the same group have a
common schedule and a common browse/retention period.

CommVault clients are associated in the Client computer groups.

When jobs are started is decided by the group start time. The pool selection is
based on what group is running.

With CommVault I usually do the following to setup a client. Create a Storage
policy to use. Which will be where my library is setup. Obvioulsy you have go
configure your devices first and I am assuming you have probably already done
this. Once the Storage policy is setup I then install the client software
because it asks you for a storage policy to use at that point. I guess I should
mention that I use a Windows CommServ and linux clients. After setting up the
client software the client will appear in the Clinet Computers. You can then
select the File System and create a new OnDemand backup set. At least this is
how I do it. From there, the client can backup to the commserv on it's own or
you can create a policy. I usually only backup from my client and won't be able
to help you any with the policies.

Pools are divided by what browse/retention period savesets have that are
written to them, and
sometimes also on what media type they are (for instance, disk or tape).
Some groups use dedicated pools for that group only

Pools do appear that you can divide them up by creating a new group, but I am
not that familar with doing this. Below is a link to there online documentation
http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/release_7_0_0/books_online_1/default.htm

Hope this helps some.

Would you know how to configure a linux client on Networker?
