It's also good to point out that this also affects Linux (and at this point,
I'm now assuming other OSs as well). We received a new "nsrd" from EMC a
couple weeks ago that fixed the issue we were having.

For those of you curious, it apparently had something to do with the way in
which Storage Nodes registered with the "nsrd" process.

Good luck!

Sean

Yes. I posted a solution a couple of weeks ago with the subject of "Testing
Conversion from 7.2.2 to v7.4sp2 getting GPF's - Solved". There is a hotfix
libnsr.dll from EMC support that will address the issue. If it's the same
thing I ran into it occurs only when certain groups start that the GPF occurs.

I recently updated a NW server from 7.2.2 to 7.4.2. It was and still is
running Windows 2003 SP2. Now, the Backup and Recover service (nsrd) keeps
stopping, but it's child processes continue to run. This generates an error in
the NMC that the server cannot be contacted. Restarting the BaR service fails
until all child processes are manually killed.

Has anyone else run in to this? Let me know if there is more info needed.
