Hi,

In the general case, you do not need to scan a tape unless NetWorker has removed it from the mediadb.

If the EDL was taking care of the cloning instead of NetWorker -- then the physical tape would have likely been labeled with the same name that NetWorker knew the virtual tape as -- If you have had to tell NetWorker that you deleted that tape, then you now will have to scan this one (and hopefully you don't have a tape of the same name already in NetWorker) before you can recover any data from it.

Hello,
I was a member of this list at my previous job, and have been

We are running 7.4.2 (recently upgraded) in a Windows 2003 environment.
We have an EDL that clones to tapes for off-site storage.

I'm a little confused about restoring from a clone. We ran out of disk
space on our EDL, because recycling of tapes is not working correctly. To clean up, I had to delete the older tapes and then relabel them to
reallocate the disk space on the EDL. I opened a call with EMC to find
out if I should leave the file and index entries and I was told that to
restore from a clone, I would have to scan the tape back into the
database.
Is this accurate?
