Hello,
What are your NDMP Versions " are you using V4", Legato versions, you can
enable extra NDMP logging by "ndmp debug 70",
I have tested the method and it works fine.
What is your network configurations & high level server config , have you
configured the ndmp password " remote user" attribute ?
What is the Group time-out set to " zero" is recommended to avoid
time-outs.
I would like to see your backup cmd also, may be there is a syntax
mistake ?
Thanks

Also, be sure to check the logs on the device. (On a netapp, usually
/vol/vol0/etc/logs/backup). That should let you know if it's even
starting the process on the NDMP host or if it's erroring out before
that.
