thanks for that. Tried again with your line, got a failure, then added -s
and it did work. so it was my mistake, in my confusion I was trying lots of
different options, so I've been putting -s on some but not on other lines.

I see now what's going on here, and it's still very odd to me.

The rule is : the database always expects queries in its in USA format
MM/DD/YYYY
*BUT*, the output will be in local format, i.e. DD/MM/YYYY for me.

So, NetWorker refuses to talk to you, unless you agree to talk to it in it's
native English (which in this case, ONLY the American date-time
sub-variation of that language will do). It then does a *computation* to
alter the database format to output to local format ...

if i talk to a system in USA MM/DD/YYYY format, I would kinda like it to
reply to me in USA MM/DD/YYYY format.
if i talk to a system in rest-of-the-world DD/MM/YYYY format, I would kinda
like it to reply to me in rest-of-the-world DD/MM/YYYY format.
that seems common-sense, but it's not "NetWorker-sense" (which is
strongly related to "Murphy's law" I think)

bottom line : it's inconsistent and quite odd.

thanks for helping to clear up yet another NetWorker confusion.
I think I should take up Astrology reading to better understand NetWorker.
