I noticed you said NDMP 3, current version to my knowledge is 4, may be 
the device can only support 3 ?
In my client definitions, i backup Netapp Filers with separate volumes 
designed for each dept, i do not specify ALL as an saveset.
i.e
/vol/CIFSB_MKTS/QMKTG
This would take me to individual Qtree for backups  if i want, not sure if 
you can do the same.
