I concur on the Networker 7.2.2 jumbo on a Windows 2003 server. We tried to
use the 5.1 build of the MSSQL and there are some things written into version
of the SQL client specifically for Networker 7.3.3 server which do not work
with 7.2.2 server, particularly the raw "dump" of the kernel which is
translated into garbage when you see the savegroup report completion via
e-mail. Also, I am using 7.3.2 jumbo client for our Windows 64-bit clients, so
those should work as well as the 7.3.3 client for Windows 64-bit.

I am very (times infinity) leery of upgrading to 7.3.3 server, but it looks
like that I am going to have to since EOL of 7.2.2 server is next summer, and
the best time for me to do a Networker upgrade is during the upcoming "off"
months of December/January here at the university where I work.

Has anyone done a 7.2.2 jumbo to 7.3.3 upgrade recently for Windows 2003?
Curious to see what experience you had and what "gotchas" you may have run into.

We had to work with Legato to find the "right" mix of versions to make
this work.

We are running:

v7.2.2 Jumbo on our Networker Server
v7.3.3 on the Window 2003_64 client
  v5.0_build 193 for MSSQL

Dave,

We're trying to run the configuration you mention, but are having
problems getting the MS SQL module to work. Do you remember needing to
do anything special? It seems to be trying to log in with an account,
but neither we nor EMC can figure out what it's trying to do.

We've got a v7.2.2 Jumbo NW server, v7.3.3 client on that NW client and
v5.0 of the MS SQL module.

Thanks.
Teresa

Stefan,

In general that rule is correct but there are occasions where you can
break it. For instance my server is currently running NetWorker 7.2.2
but I have one client, our SQL Server, where I'm running the NetWorker
Client 7.3 because the OS is Windows 2003 64 bit and the 7.3 client
works better for it.

That said, I don't know anything about running 7.2 server with the 7.4
client.

Hi,

as far as i can remember the rule "Networker Client have to be the same
version as the server or less" was always true. So it was not supported
to
use a server with a client using a higher version.

Now i heard from a customer that Legato (EMC) itself supports Networker
Server (7.2) with a client of version 7.4. I found no proof of this.
