Hi Tim,
We also see the nsrmmd processes hang from time to time, and have a case
opened with EMC to review this as well. I am not sure which platform you
are running on, but when we have this issue on our Solaris ( Unix )
Networker server, we use the lsof utility against the tape device (
/usr/local/bin/lsof /dev/rmt/0cbn ) which will return the process id of
the nsrmmd process. From this information we can usually do a 'kill
<pid>' and the nsrmmd daemon restarts. I know this is not a great
solution, but it has saved us from restarting the application from time to
time. Your milage will vary.

[Networker] Hanging session
Hello,
when a sessions dies due to an error it sometimes stays visible in
nsrwatch. There is no process connected to it anymore but the session
blocks a drive (it is backupping to that tape, but no bit is written to
it). After a while the session disappears, but that can take hours and
sometimes, it stays there forever. The only solution then is to restart
the networker daemons.
Is there a way to kill these sessions without restarting the networker
daemons??
Tim
