ACSLS is proprietary to SUN/STK and is only needed for libraries
recognized as libraries and not autochangers. This includes SL8500,
9310, L5500 libraries. You will need a small sun server to install ACSLS
and the ACSLS software will control all tapes being put in the library,
pulled out and the backup server communicates directly with the ACSLS
server.

I would like to know what the function of acsls is when used in a
networker environment. In which scenarios should use of acsls be
considered?

  thanks
