Re: [Networker] Networker Management Console

I am running 7.3.3 server on Solaris and my NMC (client) is running on
Windows XP. I have seen the same thing happen and I have found that the
dbsrv9 process doesn't always go away. So the GST service won't restart
properly. When that happens, I have to terminate the dbsrv9 process and
then start GST back up (which starts dbsrv9).
Since you are running on Windows -- your mileage may vary!

Hello,
Twice in a week , GST service failed on NMC on the master server, only
apparent intervention at the time of failure was restarting a failed group
via nmc.
even after i restarted the GST service , NMC failed to launch ( but was
fine in the morning-without any further interventions), i have a case open
with emc.Its quite a inconvenience as OPS staff watch the backups all
night on alerts and i get woken up everytime it hiccups .....
Networker 7.3.3 & NMC 3.1 on Windows
Questions:
What alternative do i have to monitor networker activities such as
backup, mounts , restarts etc when the console is down ?
I have attempted to create a separate instance of NMC on on other
pc\server but failed to connect to the master server , would NMC 3.4 (
with 7.4) be able to connect to NMC 3.1 ( older Netoworker versions <
7.4).
Is a networker server install needed to use NMC or older management GUI
pointed back to master backup server ( one that i am interested in
monitoring) ?
Let me know what other options do i have ?
Thanks
