I think there was adequate warnings in regards to the 7.4 versions and 
it's issues during preliminary testing by some members of this group, then 
i am not understanding what was the hurry to rush to this version, this 
release  also mentioned about needing immediate enabler if you wanted to 
upgrade.
I understand that EMC now has 7.4.1 ( perhaps bundled as 7.4 ??) to 
resolve some issues, You may want to run savegrp -O cmd with appropriate 
switches meanwhile to complete the index backup, in some cases you may 
have resource shortage and index hangs for long time, just restarting it 
could complete it.
