Ok, I'm missing something. I've read through the information in the
Admin Guide about enabling CDI. It's enabled for our drives (its set to
SCSI commands) and our cleaning interval is currently set. I believe
that I'll need to eliminate the cleaning interval to get cleaning to
happen when CDI triggers it - right? Is there more to it?
Also, when I look through the daemon.log and messages file, I see lots
of TapeAlert messages saying that a cleaning event has been cleared.
There is no correspondence between these messages and when cleaning
actually occurred. So, what's going on? Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Teresa

You should be able to set your library to clean on demand, or set
NetWorker to clean on demand based on CDI signals. This is the optimum
way to clean - i.e. immediately the light comes on, not sooner and not
later. For most tape technologies periodic cleaning is not recommended.
