[Networker] RPC Errors backing up Windows hosts
2007-08-30 17:27:12
Within the past month as we've started to add Windows hosts to our mix
of backups with NetWorker Server version 7.3.2 running under Solaris 10,
we've come across a number of cases where some particular volumes refuse
to backup successfully. In those instances, the backup will start
normally, and after several gigs of data being transfered (seemingly
randomly -- 10 GB one day, 200 GB the next) the following error is
thrown every time:
* hyperion.ece.gatech.edu:F:\ save: RPC error: RPC send operation
failed. A network connection could not be established with the host.
The ONLY proposed solution that I have found for this condition has to
do with erroneous DNS entries cached by the client that requires
flushing with an 'arp -d' and 'ipconfig /flushdns'. I feel this solution
is not appropriate in my situation, after all, the client has no problem
starting a new save session with the server until at least 1 hour or
more later...
Has anyone encountered something similar? We're running out of ideas!
Thanks in advance!
