Hi again,

When you say 7.2.2, is 7.2.2 Jumbo version in the PowerLink? (7.2.Build 494 in the About box)

Which benefits have this little upgrade step from 7.1.4? Knowing that support is near its end -one year- is 7.3.2 a good option? (if yes, 7.3.2 or 7.3.2JumboUpdate1?).

Someone has a good map of features available in each version? (available in one version and not available in another branch of the product).

Sorry if I'm lost with all those versions available for upgrading. I have the idea that it would be better if EMC creates an stable, powerful and realiable backup program than having a lot of branches, patches and versions available for new installations.

Thank you very much again.

Manel,

Version 7.2.2 is a very stable version. We ran it for a year and were
very pleased with it. We are currently in the process of upgrading all
our sites to 7.3.2 Jumbo Update 1. The interface is very different.
So, there will be a learning curve in that respect. One other thing to
take into account is the end of service life of 7.2.2, which, if I'm not
mistaken, is around June or July of 2008. I have been trying to find
documentation to support that but haven't had any luck yet. If I am
wrong about the EOSL, someone please correct me.

I am not sure if I said that already, but the new GUI is just a different wrapper around the same objects. If you know 7.2.2 (or 6.something), you will be able to manage a 7.3.2 within minutes. It is just like finding your old friends in a new neighborhood.

Hello,

Two weeks ago we've finished the hardware and OS upgrade of our NetWorker server (NetWorker 7.1.4 on Windows Server R2).

Now, we want continue its upgrading to one of the "new" releases of NetWorker. After searching the list we've seen many problems in different times with different versions, but we would like to know what's the actual "state of the art" of the different NetWorker versions

to see which one is better for our environment.

As seen today in PowerLink there are available four different versions of NetWorker:

    7.2.2 Jumbo (Dec'06)
    7.3.2 (Sep'06)
    7.3.2 Jumbo Update 1 (Apr'07)
    7.4 (Jun'07)

Our question is the following?

- Which one is the "best" actually? (in terms of stability and performance, environment, etc.)

Thank you.
