I'm looking for a way to browse the specific files that were backed up within a
specific ssid. This is more difficult than it first appears, because the browse
index doesn't appear to use the ssid as a searchable field. And mminfo only
queries the media database, and can only return partition information, not file.

So, you can use mminfo to get the specific ssid, but you can't use recover to actually browse or retain a specific list of files that are within that ssid. A recover -S<ssid> run under Windows or Unix forces a saveset recover. Which isn't the actual goal here.

The key to your request is the nsrinfo command.

Knowing the ssid allows you to run an mminfo to obtain the nsavetime for the save set, then you can plug this into nsrinfo to list the files in the save set.

The man page for nsrinfo gives an example of this.
