I have not had much of a luck trying to use any thing other then tapes for 
mmrecov.
One thing might help you is if you replicate the nsr directory or lay it 
down on replacement server then you can just re-install Legato and 
everything should work as before ( You will have to prepare the server 
offline i.e same ip, servername etc and prevent both servers from seeying 
eachother-to avoid disableling one of the servers licences)
