The tape is in the media DB, barcode matches, it is the VOLID that is
different between what is on the tape and in the media DB, sorry for the
wrong information

You say "differ". Does it differ *completely*, or is there any pattern?

You say the label on tape differs from media database. If you query the
database, is there anything with that tape name in it? (mminfo -av -q
'volume=<volumename>' )

Any chance that some process is removing labels and putting them on new
tapes. I've been at some places that did that for several reasons, but
we had to explicitly handle this issue in the relabling.

You say this happens in batches. Are the tapes already in the library,
or are you reintroducing them from offsite?

It's hard to get it, but I'd be interested in the state before the
relabel. Is the tape in the media database correctly? Does the tape
label match the barcode and the DB?

In other words, where does the inconsistency begin? Is it on the tape
that is returned, is it in the media database, or is it something that
occurs during the labeling. Knowing the label on tape, the barcode on
tape, the barcode read by the library, and the contents of the media
database would eventually reveal this....
