CODE RELEASE on March 1, dated to Dec 20, 2006 -- does it fix the
problems, or just make them not report the problems anymore?

I was running backups to Advanced File devices, and would get errors and
savegroup notifications of failures.

Applied the patch (ugly non-install, stop everything, paste the files
in...) having already a week before gone to Jumbo :)

(7.2.2)

Since then, I've learned to run a notification for SSID / Media /
Adv_file -- level emergency, and write to a log file.

It shows the same errors are happening for some problematic
clients--they didn't like to go to disk before the jumbo patch, after,
or after the hotfix--but now, the backups run without reporting
UNSUCCESSFUL errors in the savegrp completion.

If I hadn't written the notification, I'd have to look through megs of
daemon logs, versus single lines directly pointing to the issues.

Anyone else have feedback or questions, I'd really like to know if it is
fixed, or just not reporting there is a problem any more.

I will say this--the problematic clients were setup by people not on the
"core team" and that's something they have in common.

The other error I've seen may be due to tape drive unavailability when
the staging goes to run -- it runs the backup to disk, clones, then x
hours later runs the stage from disk to tape ("cloning" again.) If the
first round of cloning had not finished -- it is unhappy -- that's some
of my errors.... and I've adjusted for that -- but I want to get
notification if the backups are not working to diskstage (period).

Overall, I think things did begin to run much better with Jumbo patch,
and everyone's setup and clients are different, however, if you are
getting similar results, plz let me know. I'd also echo the comments
about support--some of the guys are great, very helpful, and some are
newbies reading off a script. I've found the more info I can give them,
the better the results.
