I don't even know how to ask this question, but will try - We have the
exact same environment - adic i2k with IBM drives, brocade switch for
SAN. We are currently using 7.3.2 jumbo patch. This is the problem. I
want to know what determines the symbolic tape name when you do inquire.
If i have 7.3.2 Legato installed on storage node, inquire lists no
symbolic name, i.e., just says Tape instead of Tape0, Tape1, etc. If i
uninstall and reinstall 7.3.1, all symbolic tape names come back and
everything's great. I thought that the tape device drivers is what
gives symbolic name, but Legato software must talk.

Hello,
We are at ADIC i2k with IBM drive.
ADIC support is adequite, cross platform support is problamatic, i.e
talking to ADIC to listed to your problems about IBM drives.
Having said that, you need to have latest service pack with regard to
your OS, W3K you will need SP1 to correct few SAN issues.
No subsitute for reading readme file that comes with the drivers.
At least in our enviroment with ADIC\BROCADE IBM we did need to turn off
CDI this was really problamatic with Neworker 7.2.1.
As far as drivers, get atleat 6.3 which worked well for me in shared
DDS, storage node inviroment, Zoning needs to be correct before you get
to the drivers part.
IBM drivers get you best results when run from cmd promt, altough
installing via device manger is also ok.
Lastly, its imposible getting IBM to support you if your lib is ADIC or
else and ADIC ( probably true for other vendors too) will point the
finger at IBM.
