Not anymore, but in my previous job i did

Desktops were done nightly but laptops are usually not connected in the office during the night.

one can of cource do manual backups (dont forget to save the index afterwrds)

It is possible however to interactively request a scheduled backup
using scripting, in my case the server was unix so that was easy.

if you are interested i can see if I can find the scripts (perl with specific unix commands in there) they are connected with inetd.conf and the user runs a telnet session to request and monitor the backup.

laptop backups have the problem that the user usually starts the backup and people tend to forget that.

Is anybody using Networker to backup windows desktops and laptops ?

If so, any good or bad experiences (dhcp/dns/stuff).
