That would be the issue. You can run an mminfo from the server without
passing it the -s flag. Run from a client you need that. I would venture
to guess that is the issue.

I assume you are using the "-s <bk_server_name>" option when running the
mminfo command from anywhere else other than the backup server itself.

I would start with packet inspection.  If you don't get any packets
back, then perhaps a firewall or something else is intercepting.
