Have you added the account to the cluster administrators on the Security
Tab of the Cluster properties using the MMC snap-in? Even though the
account maybe part of a Group that is on the list I have had issues if
the account is not explicitly stated on the list. Depending on the size
and design of your environment, it may take longer than an application
will wait to enumerate all the Groups and Roles the backup account are a
part of and so winauth fails during the probe.

Subject: can't backup MS Cluster resources using logon account other
than service

Hi, I am experiencing privileges errors when attempting to backup
microsoft cluster 2003 resources when using a logon account other than
service on the network remote exec service. I have added the account I
am using for the networker remote exec service logon as a domain admin,
administrators and local administrators - but still we receive the
privileges error of (probe could not run savefs: a required privilege is
not held by the client).

 

The backup of the cluster resources works when I use the system account
for the networker service logon. The reason that I cannot use this
account is because we are backing up to a CIFS mounted advanced file
type device. We are confident that this advanced file device is working
as it will backup the local disks and system state.
