[Networker] Problems with Sun L100s w/ HP LTO Ultrium 3 drives, NW 7.3.1, & Solaris 10
2006-09-12 16:32:47
Hello,
As the subject says, I've got a brand new Sun V440 running Solaris 10,
with 2 StorEdge L100 tape libraries, each with 2 HP LTO3 drives.
Running Networker 7.3.1 (storage node) and the latest recommended
patchset from Sun. I've Googled and found different tape drive settings
for the /kernel/drv/st.conf file, but I have yet to come across the
correct one. Here are the settings I'm currently using:
tape-config-list=
"HP Ultrium 3", "HP Ultrium LTO3", "ULTRIUM3";
ULTRIUM3 = 2,0x3b,0,0x18659,4,0x44,0x44,0x44,0x44,3,
60,1200,600,1200,600,600,18000;
name="st" class="scsi" target=0 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi" target=1 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi" target=2 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi" target=3 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi" target=4 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi" target=5 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi" target=6 lun=0;
name="st" parent="fp" target=0;
Output of the 'inquire' command shows all 4 drives and jbconfig found
the libraries with no problem.
However, when I attempt a backup of a client, I get the following:
09/12/06 14:31:42 nsrd: media warning: /dev/rmt/0cbn writing: I/O error,
at file 2 record 323
09/12/06 14:31:42 nsrd: media notice: LTO Ultrium-3 tape 001000L3 on
/dev/rmt/0cbn is full
09/12/06 14:31:42 nsrd: media notice: LTO Ultrium-3 tape 001000L3 used
41 MB of 400 GB capacity
09/12/06 14:31:47 nsrd: media notice: Volume "001000L3" on device
"/dev/rmt/0cbn": Block size is 32768 bytes not 131072 bytes. Verify the
device configuration. Tape positioning by record is disabled.
I've also tried adding the following to the top of my
/etc/init.d/networker script:
NSR_DEV_BLOCK_SIZE_LTO_ULTRIUM=128
export NSR_DEV_BLOCK_SIZE_LTO_ULTRIUM
and restarted Networker, but this does not help either.
Anybody have a similar working setup, or have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
