Subject: [Networker] Cannot find an available nsrmmd service
Hi folks,
This is a serious problem, my New environment running on Solaris 10 with
Networker power edition 7.3 We have 10 pools. Each pool has it own
number of tapes and some of them just 0.1% full
The backup stuck with below messages
Aug 23 18:41:14 sabakap1 root: [ID 702911 local0.alert] Sun StorEdge(TM)
Enterprise Backup media: (waiting) Waiting for 1 writable volumes to
backup pool 'saspmdb' tape(s) on sabakap1
08/23/06 18:41:14 nsrd: Operation 7 started : Load volume `MAO155L3'.
08/23/06 18:41:14 nsrd: media waiting event: Waiting for 1 writable
volumes to backup pool 'saspmdb' tape(s) on sabakap1
08/23/06 18:41:16 nsrmmd #3: Start nsrmmd #3, with PID 2292, at HOST
sabakap1
08/23/06 18:41:18 nsrd: [Jukebox `sabakap1-c2', operation # 7]. Cannot
find an available nsrmmd service for operation on device
'/dev/rmt/0cbn'. Try again.
08/23/06 18:41:18 nsrmmgd: Cannot find an available nsrmmd service for
operation on device '/dev/rmt/0cbn'. Try again.
08/23/06 18:41:18 nsrmmgd: Jukebox `sabakap1-c2' failed to load the
requested volume.
08/23/06 18:41:22 nsrd: [Jukebox `sabakap1-c2', operation # 7]. Finished
with status: retryable
08/23/06 18:41:22 nsrmmgd: RAP error: Invalid resource data.
08/23/06 18:41:22 nsrmmgd: Cannot update operation status resource
(instance 7).
08/23/06 18:41:24 nsrd: media info: Suggest manually labeling a new
writable volume for pool 'saspmdb'
Is this a bug ? as I can see nsrd try to load the volume to the pool,
but somehow cannot find an available nsrmmd service for operation on
device .... My volume only 0.1% full and belong to this pool. Why nsrmmd
service no doing it's work. What is going wrong ?
All my schedule backup just stuck and always "Suggest manually labelling
a new writable volume for pool xxxx". Once I manually mount the tape,
the backup started. Networker should NOT work in such a way u need to
manually mount the tape for a backup to kick-off.
So I said this is a major problem in Networker. Any other suggestion ?
EMC/Legato are your solving this problem ?
