Hi Teresa,
NetWorker on Solaris 10 requires cfgadm to work properly to use
inquire/jbconfig, which means you need to use the Sun Leadville
drivers, not the Emulex/Qlogic OEM drivers. The tape drives are still
accessed via /dev/rmt entries, so while inquire won't work with
Emulex/Qlogic OEM drivers, mt should work fine.
BTW, I've noticed that the Leadville drivers enumerate luns to
/dev/rmt entries in reverse order, so if you are using a bridge, you
may have some issues. I culled something from the mailing list about
that previously, but haven't tested it extensively:

If you would like the connected WWNS to specific "/dev/rmt/Xxx"
devices, you can modify the file "/etc/devlinks.tab" and add entries as
follows :
Begin TAPE section
type=ddi_byte:tape;addr=w5006xxxxxxxxxxx1,0; rmt/250\M0
type=ddi_byte:tape;addr=w5006xxxxxxxxxxx2,0; rmt/251\M0
type=ddi_byte:tape;addr=w5006xxxxxxxxxxx3,0; rmt/252\M0
End TAPE section
(note: tab between ";" and "rmt")
Now clear out /dev/rmt directory and run devfsadm Cv to repopulate.
No reboot required.
...snip...
Yours,
Dave

Subject: inquire not working?
Hi,
=20
I'm transitioning our NW server to new hardware running Solaris10. In
preparation, I installed NW on the new system. The server can see the
new drives - it created files /dev/rmt files as we expected. However,
when I run inquire, the server doesn't appear to see the tape drives or
the library. Any ideas what's going on? =20
