Agree with you regarding utilization at around 90%,, backup performance
being poor. However our experience is that performance in general
degrades to such an extent, that its a problem for general use, and not
simply backups. Bacause of that, we try to keep capacity at approx 85% max.

The volume in question are pretty approx 40 - 70 % loaded, so I hope
this is not the issue.
