Re: [Networker] Slow NDMP restores

Are you using parrallelisim?
If so you are writing to the tape in multiple streams to make backups go
quickly. Thus, to restore the tape has to "pick through" the data on it
and therefore restores take a long time.
Or so i am told. :)

Hello
We have a fabric connected library backing up Network Appliance filers
using NDMP. We are getting goog backup speeds (up to 55Mb/sec) to the
NDMP configured LTO 2 drives. But restores are extremely slow - at
approximately 30 minutes per gigabyte. Has anyone seen this behaviour
before? If so, please can you let me know? The setup details as below:
NetWorker Server - Solaris 2.9
NetWorker 7.2.2
LTO 2 tape drives in a Quantum PX720 library
Brocade Silkworm 3850 FC switch
NetApp F825 running OnTap 6.5.1 R1P5
Thanks in advance.
Rgds, Ram.
