Forgot to mention that you can get load of information via Device manager 
in windows and\or
IBM ITDT which replaced ntutil ( also gets lots of info), does not seem 
like ITDT works on 64 bit windows platform though.
LTOTOOL from Exabite.
HP has some good diagnostic tools on LTO also, not sure if they would work 
with IBM Drives though.
