Any reason rsync could not be used for the whole process, both before
and after? Why use Legato at all?

When the servers in question are Windows boxes, you could use ROBOCOPY
from the ResourceKit to copy a complete file structure and later run the
same command to mirror the latest changes. Fast and simple.

/SEC /MIR /R:3 /W:3 /LOG:<logfile>
