Ignoring the rest of your question, bear in mind that the `copies'
includes *all* copies, including bad ones. So if you get a tape error
on a write, you end up with two copies, one bad, and you'll never get
a good clone.
You really need to look at the clflags (should be empty) to verify you
have good copies. Unfortunately, selecting ssids using mminfo with
flag combinations is er, problematic: you may need to parse the output
yourself, excluding non-empty clflags, and counting the remaining
copies (same ssid, different cloneid)..
