You will probably experience that a lot of connections are made to and 
from localhost. In a large environment, that can lead to resource 
starvation, which in turn might hang the backup system altogether. Or at 
least that's our working theory at the moment. We have received less than 
satisfactory feedback from EMC support on this issue to say the least.
