Hello Fazil,

First step to do :

1) does loading a media into a drive manually (opening the robotic)
show the correct \\.\tapex online ?

the goal is here to verify W2k3 can correcty speak with the devices.
Once the tape is loaded into the device, check with "mt -f \\.\tapex status"
(where x is from 0 to 7)

Note for which physical device which \\.\tapex driver to answer

2) when you are ok with such a map, then use sjirdtag to be sure
the robotic arm is correctly working :
sjirdtag [email protected] (with b.t.l corresponding to bus.target.lun of the
rootic)

3) at I2K level, check settings of the partition. Maybe not all devices
correctly
shown to the partition by the physical library. Note mapping of devices and
amount
of slots.

4) for each tape devices you have in your partition, put partition of the adic
offline and move a tape (one drive a time) to each device configured in the
partition. Using mt -f .... verify which drivers (\\.\tapex) ansers.

Then finally, you should be able to run jbconfig and for each device of the
robot
specify correct \\.\tapex that points to the physical devices.

For not to have to do the things each time, a good tip is to map physical drive
id with a specific lun (eg : physical drive 5 = x.y.5, drive 3, x.y.3 .....)
and use
permanent binding for fixing the mapping.

HTH,

Objet : [Networker] W3k_64 bit_LTO2 Not working Help Urgent

Hello
I have new FC attached Drives on Adic i2000\IBM tape drives.
I am unable to get networker funtionality working, either loading
drives\lable backups etc.
1. All known versions of IBM tape drives for windows 2003 64 bit were
tried, none working.
2. This is Dell PE 6850 server, SP1 for W3k.
3. Qlogic QLE 2462 Drivers.
loading drives returns errors as , drive is good but status is unkwon.
FC mapping have 8 drives with lun 0 for control path not being used by any
other drives on any other HBA configured to use lun 0.
we removed all drives but one in ADic i2000 and did jbconfig
the wizard discoverd more then one drive, with first drive at \\.\Tape0 he
wanted to configure addtional drives, when we only assigned one.
What are the recomendation in this senario, what troubleshooting we should
do, how can we verify the connectivety on FC and between i2000.
Any one has seen something similar ?
Any suggestions, Any issues with drivers on 64 bit os and IBM\ADIC?
all help is welcome
Thanks
Shoulnt this output have tape manufacturers name in it <> ?
Why does FC drive order keep changing on rebooting server when persistant
binding on FC cards is enabled.
