Where did you get 7.3 and what version is it.
I have "7.3.Build.190 eval" but that's not a released version - it's
"eval" and I can't run that in production.

Thanks - John

I installed NetWorker 7.3 yesterday. Here are some notes on features
that I have not yet seen discussed on this list.

nsrwatch
--------
(We use this a lot)

The Device section.

It used to show devices that were full as "(full)" when done. This was
very useful. It now only shows that when it the last operation was
read. So it shows "reading, done (full)" but not "writing, done
(full)".

The Sessions section

Cloning session progress is now fairly useless (unless you are cloning a
single save set). There appears to be an attempt to get better progress
information (as in Version 5?). In version 6 and earlier version 7s,
the progress showed the number of save sets that were complete, the
total space those savesets occupied, and the total space to complete
the command. Now the number of complete savesets is not updated
regularly, and it only shows the progressive spce used for the single
saveset in progress. I suspect Legato intended to add the progress of
the incomplete saveset to the total of the already completed savesets
and got it all wrong!

The line has 5 pieces of information:
(a) Number of completed save sets.
(b) Total number of save sets for this cloning session.
(c) the source volume.
(d) volume of data already cloned.
(e) Total volume of data for this cloning session.

All versions of NetWorker (that I have used) seem to have got (b), (c),
(e) correct.
All previous versions of NetWorker (pre 7.3) that I can remember get
(a) correct.
There have been various attempts to get (d) correct. I think version
5 and earlier did get it right. Under 6 and 7.0-7.2, this showed the
space of the completed save sets, unless the source volume changed, in
which case it showed the same as (e) until the next save set completed.

mminfo
------

mminfo -q 'volume=A00921,volume=A02310' -r volume,pool,location

Matches every volume I have, not just the two volumes on the command
line. This is contrary to the man page, and used to work!

nsradmin
--------

This used to do some regular expression matching with queries.
So you used to be able to go:

print name: /dev/rmt/[0123]hbn

and get details for /dev/rmt/0hbn /dev/rmt/1hbn /dev/rmt/2hbn /dev/
rmt/3hbn.
You now have to use:

print name: /dev/rmt/0hbn, /dev/rmt/1hbn, /dev/rmt/2hbn, /dev/rmt/3hbn

There are also many changes to the jukebox resources to enable the new
parallelism features.

nsrjb
-----

The following has been discussed, but I add my observation. I think
this may be an improvement. I am not sure what will happen if I deposit
a new blank tape.

"nsrjb -d" now seems to do the inventory step as well. Whereas
before I had to do a "mmlocate -u" (to remove my out-of-library
location), "nsrjb -d" and "nsrjb -I", "nsrjb -d -Y" is all that is
required.

The jukebox now also appears to unload tapes that are not being used
after some period of time. [A feature discussed on the list in recent
weeks]. But I do not have DDS, and cannot correlate the time delay
after last use with any obvious parameters.
