I had a similar problem with workstations and servers. I found that the
WINSOCK was corrupted. The follow links will explain better then I could:

I have a particular WinXP machine on my network that does
start the backup, but after a little while the speed becomes
ridiculusly slow (a few kb/s) and eventualy idles. The save
fails after some time passes. 

Does anyone has seen this before?
