Unless the drive is part of a shared library, then it will be unloaded after a specified period. This is defined by the "Idle device timeout" parameter in the NSR jukebox resource.


Not unless the drives are in a tape silo. The idle device timeout period seems to be ignored in regular tape libraries, at least that's my experience, but it is the way I prefer things to work anyway.

How are you defining a silo here Stan? I don't think the difference between a silo and a library is the defining factor here, just the question of whether or not the library is shared. If all the drives are owned by the same machine - no auto tape ejects, if more than one storage node (or server) have drives in the library they will be ejected.
