Bootstrap will be generated each time a "savegrp -O"
is called. You cannot disable such a behaviour.

If the server is not in a group that is auto-started by
networker, each savegroup will be followed by save of
index for the clients that have been backuped and
a bootstrap will be generated.

For doing the job you want :

- turn off all index backups in all of your groups,
(or call savegrp -I <group_name> if called by scripts)

- keep server in a group auto-started by legato.
That group will save OS(for sample) then server index and
bootstrap.

- create a new group (CLIENT_INDEX for sample) where
all clients are member of and that is turned off auto start.
Once a day, start "savegrp -O CLIENT_INDEX". you will
backup index of all clients in a single savegrp and
only have 1 bootstrap generated.

Objet : [Networker] Bootstrap suppression

Since this subject recently came up, I've got a question.

We have a number of groups, and we have index backups disable on them.
We have a script that runs at 5:00 A.M. in the morning that does a
"savegrp -O" on each of the groups including the group the backup server
belongs. The documentation suggests that as long as the backup server is
in an group that is auto scheduled, it will suppress the bootstrap on
the savegrp -O runs, however, it seems to run a bootstap for each group
that we run a "savegrp -O" on.

Anyone know how to suppress the bootstrap?
