That's true only to the extent that your zone layout and pkg structure
makes it possible.
In a default zone with a shared /usr, and the networker client wanting
to install components there, they simply can't be patched
independently. You must use a "full root" zone and the different set
of limitations that offers if you need the separation.

Do you back up your global zone? Do you set explicit excludes for your
local zone data (so it's not being backed up twice)?
