This is strange.  We don't see this problem at all.  We have a script
which also uses mmlocate to set the location of tapes when they go
offsite.  The location "offsite" is retained through NetWorker restarts
and server reboots.  What platform are you running on?  We're running
v7.1.3 on Solaris 9.  In addition, we used the same script while we were
at v7.1.1 and it worked then too.

We only lose the Location tag for user-defined settings.  The default
"L700"
is persistent on reboot.   But that doesn't help because it's the ones
we set ourselves that are required.

Is there something that needs to be set somewhere to lock these values

I'm surprised that such an oversight in the software could exist
across so many versions.   I guess it is time to log a bug.

Hmmm, that is the outcome I am expecting also,  but I have to give it
a try....   We didn't want to have to maintain a separate database if
possible, given the volume mangement tools in Legato already....
