Well we are totally into the realm of guessing now, but if its the
operating system doing it then perhaps it is the 'removable storage'
service which you can probably disable altogether...
i tried stopping Removable Storage service on my XP workstation and the
only effect seemed to be that my cdrom drive didnt autoplay any more,
but otherwise it works - in the same way perhaps it will leave your
jukebox alone.

The output of sjirdp [email protected] is
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.H07>sjirdp [email protected]
[email protected] has 6 DATA TRANSPORT Element(s) starting at address 1
[email protected] has 1 MEDIA TRANSPORT Element(s) starting at address 1
[email protected] has 60 STORAGE Element(s) starting at address 1
[email protected] has 12 IMPORT/EXPORT Element(s) starting at address 1
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.H07>
We discovered something else:
if I shut down the Windows 2003 server, the mailbox of the Dell
PowerVault 136T gets unlocked until I reboot the server. Then it gets
locked again. If I just shutdown the networker services instead it still
remains locked.
Could it be a driver problem ? In fact the sign on the jukebox (little
computer with a key) is explained as:
"This indicator is displayed if the host has issued a PREVENT/ALLOW
REMOVAL SCSI command and locked the mailbox."
I just don't know how I can influence this SCSI command.
If I look in the Device Manager I can find the following driver details
for the driver of Dell PowerVault 136T Tape Library
Driver Provider: Dell Computer Corporation
Driver Date: 11/15/2004
Driver Version: 7.0.0.0
In fact we installed this newer version yesterday but it didn't help.

Hildegard,
try running this low-level legato driver command:
sjirdp [email protected]
..should show details as queried directly from the library
hardware...and these can be compared to the nsrjb output...

This is what I get.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.H07>nsrjb -Vv
setting verbosity level to `1'
status:
Jukebox handle being opened at port [email protected]
Jukebox Vendor id DELL
Jukebox Product id PV-136T
jukebox id: 0
options: volume_tags elements_status barcode read_ele
# #_pairs pairs
drives: 6 1 1-6
ports: 12 1 1-12
slots: 60 1 1-60
Jukebox handle being closed at port [email protected]
Seems pretty the same.

No, I am sorry. Our DellPV 136T has exactly the same settings as you
write, the mailbox is imprt/exprt. It is not configured as storage.
It would be interesting to see the output of nsrjb -Vv.
Would you post it up here for us?
