I'm going to migrate to a new server and have questions about how to go about it. They are both Solaris systems - the old server is running version 6.1.2 of networker with a 8 slot DLT autochanger on it. I'll be installing networker 7.2 on the new server and it has a 17 slot LTO 2 drive. I have several months of backups on the old DLT's that I would like to save so I'm not sure how to do the migration. I only have a license for 9 slot autochanger so if I move the old DLT autochanger to the new server in addition to the LTO autochanger I'm not sure how I can access the old tapes to do recoveries. Is there a way to do this or does it require a new license? I'd rather not buy a 2nd autochanger license for the few months that I need access to the old tapes so not sure if there is some other way to do this. I don't know if the networker license would let me access the DLT drive as just a DLT and I could manually work the autochanger to select tapes since this doesn't happen often. Also looking through the manual I don't see info on how to migrate the old indexes over to the new machine - can I just copy over the old nsr directory tree and install as if I were doing an upgrade? Will I have a problem with this since the tape drive is now the new LTO autochanger? Any hints would be appreciated (or pointers to the proper section of the manuals).

Have you noticed that a "slight tax increase" costs us at least two
hundred dollars a year, but a "substantial tax cut" saves us maybe thirty cents?
