Recently, I've started having the following problems with backups of any
server that uses SAVEPNPC. What is happening is:
1. PRE and PST commands are *sometimes* being ran multiple times per
client, while the backup is being performed. It appears as if this may be
happening due to timeout issues, but there's nothing in the logs to confirm
this.
2. Sometimes, the PST command is being run just minutes after the PRE
command has run, while the backup is still going on.
In both cases, this results in corrupted backups since most of the time the
PRE and PST commands are used to run script that shut down various types of
databases.
I've checked the usual culprits, and none of them have made things any
better:
Removed any .tmp files from the nsr/tmp folder
Restarted both the networker server and the client software.
Checked the pre and pst commands for errors
Checked the .res files for errors
Verified that the PRE command exits with errorcode 0
Also, I've started having the following error messages in my backup of a
Lotus Notes server:
* lexnot1.backups.gs.acs-inc.com:NOTES: nsrnotesv: Error finding last backup
instance for C:\WINNT\lotus.ini; error = Authentication failure.
I'm getting about 600 of these per backup session now, and it just started.
I haven't made any changes to the client entry for the Notes server, there
are no issues with the server that I'm aware of, and I've never seen this
error before. There have also been no changes to the Lotus Notes server.
Prior to this week, Notes, and Notes backups have worked without any issues.
If anyone has seen either of these issues and knows how to fix them, I would
really appreciate some advice. I've had a week of Monday's trying to figure
these out, and my already mostly grey hair is going to be white by Monday,
and I'll probably be looking for a job.
