Hello,

I have the alike configuration as you, only Qlogic HBA is used. Only one
idea for you.
Please, verify configuration of every Emulex card on both servers
...lpfc.conf.

!!!!Use persistent binding  !!!!!!

Also, you can check power off the library MSL6000,
remove link files /dev/rmt/*
and run boot -r
If the server is up, check /dev/rmt/, where no HP Ultrium device could be
viewed.
Than you power on the library MSL and use the command drvconfig bettween
boot -r.

you can see here for description your problem ....

        Předmět:        Solaris Tape Configuration

Hello,

i have a problem the configuration of tape devices in a Sun Solaris Fibre
Channel environment. I have the following topology:

2x Sun Solaris E4500 with 2 Emulex FC Adapter in each server
2x Brocade FC Switches (EMC label)
2x EMC CLARiiON FC4700 (two connections to each E4500)
1x EMC DL300 (two connections to each E4500)
1x HP MSL6000 (2x LTO2, 1x FC)

On the DL300 8 devices (IBM LTO2) are configured for each Solaris machine.
The problem is the mapping from the physical device connections to the
logical device names on the Solaris machines:

Server1:
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/1cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/2cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/3cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/4cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/5cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/6cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/7cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/8cbn
[email protected]:HP  C5683A         C005|Tape, /dev/rmt/0cbn
[email protected]:HP  Ultrium 2-SCSI F59W|Tape, /dev/rmt/9cbn
[email protected]:HP  Ultrium 2-SCSI F59W|Tape, /dev/rmt/10cbn

Server2:
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/1cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/4cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/5cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/6cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/7cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/8cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/9cbn
[email protected]:IBM ULT3580-TD2    333K|Tape, /dev/rmt/10cbn
[email protected]:HP  C5683A         C005|Tape, /dev/rmt/0cbn
[email protected]:HP  Ultrium 2-SCSI F59W|Tape, /dev/rmt/2cbn
[email protected]:HP  Ultrium 2-SCSI F59W|Tape, /dev/rmt/3cbn

I have cleaned the path_to_inst file from the "st" entries and made the
following entries in the st.conf.

name="st" class="scsi"
target=0 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=1 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=1 lun=1;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=1 lun=2;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=1 lun=3;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=1 lun=4;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=1 lun=5;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=1 lun=6;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=1 lun=7;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=2 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=2 lun=1;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=2 lun=2;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=3 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=4 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=5 lun=0;
name="st" class="scsi"
target=6 lun=0;

I also cleaned the /dev/rmt and the /devices/FCADAPTER dirs from "st"
entries. After this i have rebooted the second server with "reboot -- -r".
But the server recreates the same entries after the reboot. Why is the
mapping on the second server different to the first server. The st.conf is
the same on both machines.

I'm not a solaris specialist and i am grateful for every hint.
Thanks in advance!
